The president, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma  has invited the attention  of  the  Director of Shipping Service towards to the problems being faced by the  general public of Campbell  Bay  due to non-berthing mainland bound passenger ships at Campbell Bay. “Campbell Bay is situated on the most southern   part of   India and is separated from other part  of this island  territory. Majority of the population of Campbell Bay and the nearby islands originally belong to  mainland India  and majority of them are dependant on ship for  their journey  to mainland. Considering   the  hardship   of the populace  of Campbell Bay in  availing ships for their to and fro journey   to mainland  from Port Blair      passenger    ships bound to  Chennai   were used to  berth / touch  Campbell Bay   on its  both ways once in  every  month. However, the practice  has been  discontinued for the last 3-4 months due to which residents of  Campbell Bay and  nearby islands are facing hardships,” said Mr Sharma urging the Shipping Department to resume the services mainly in view of the approaching school vacation period during which the general public and teachers in the region have planned to visit their native places in mainland.
