Less Rice for APL Ration card holders

Port Blair
6 Mar 2018

This is for the information of all the APL ration card holders that the Administration has decided to reduce 500 grams of rice per adult under APL category wef April 2018 onwards. This decision was taken owing to reduction in the allocation of rice under tide over (APL) after implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013 in March 2016 and also to fulfill the long pending demand of the PRIs of Middle & North Andaman District during DPC meetings to provide rice to 2861 Cultivator (farmers) families covering 9905 population who were earlier not receiving rice under PDS. This decision will also fulfill the demand of the tribals of Nicobar and Nancowrie to provide rice in place of wheat/wheat flour through PDS.
