LG stresses on need to create awareness of national security

Forum for Awareness on National Security (FANS) Port Blair Chapter, organised a seminar on the ‘Role of Shaheed, Swaraj Dweep Samooh (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) in National Security’ at JNRM on Friday. The Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Admiral DK Joshi (retd) was the chief guest on the occasion. Four members from the family of freedom fighter, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, were also present in the seminar.
In his address, Lt. Governor highlighted the strategic importance of A & N Islands in terms of national security and said that these islands are strategically important owing to their geographical location. “December  30 is an important day in the history of these islands when 74 years ago, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the national flag for the first time in these islands. The Islanders have high feeling of nationalism among themselves and it will be easy to create awareness among them about national security,” said the Lt. Governor
In his address, Mr  Indresh Kumar, Margdarshak FANS gave a brief history about the historic landing of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose in the Islands, the first hoisting of the national tri-colour in the Islands and  declaring them Shaheed and Swaraj Dweep Samooh. He urged that  December 30 be celebrated in a grand manner to mark historic hoisting of the first national tri-colour by the great leader. He also stressed on the need for every individual to respect the motherland. Smt. Rupa Ray proposed the vote of thanks.
