LG visits Kalapani museum

The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi visited the ‘Kalapani Museum - a Centre of Research & Education’, situated at Garacharma on Friday. He went around the place and evinced keen interest in the photographs and models, related to the history and tribes of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which are on display at the museum. He also enquired about the flow of tourists to the museum. The Founder of the museum, Mr Mukeshwar Lal explained about the historical significance of each photograph and the models displayed at the museum.
The museum, housed in a triple storied building, has a unique collection of old history of these islands with about 4000 rare photographs and paintings. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr Udit Prakash Rai and the PBMC Ward Councilor, Ward No. 18, Smt. Rubana Aziz were also present on the occasion.
