LS Committee on Government Assurances to arrive today

The Committee on Government Assurances (2016-17) of Lok Sabha headed by the Chairman and Members of Parliament will be arriving on Friday on a three day visit to the Islands.
The itinerary of the Committee includes holding informal discussion with the representatives of the Ministry of Rural Development (Department of Rural Development and Department of Land Resources) and Union Territory Administration of A&N Islands regarding implementation of SAGY in A&N Islands, issues involved under SAGY and occupancy of tenants of land in A&N Islands at 4 pm at Megapode Resort on Aug 25. Thereafter, the Committee will visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail and witness the Sound & Light Show.
On Aug 26, the Committee will hold informal discussion with the representatives of the Ministry of Defence (Department of Defence) and Union Territory Administration of A&N Islands regarding Sainik School in A&N Islands and recruitment in Defence forces at 10 am at Megapode Resort. This will be followed by an informal discussion with the representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Union Territory Administration of A&N Islands regarding review of Coastal Security. The Committee will also hold an informal discussion with the representatives of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and Union Territory Administration of A&N Islands regarding Defunct Toilets at 2 pm.  Thereafter, the Committee will hold informal discussion with the representatives of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (Department of Sports & Department of Youth Affairs) Union Territory Administration of A&N Islands, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Sports Authority of India regarding functioning of NYKs, promotion of e- sports at 3 pm.
On Aug 27, the Committee will depart for Havelock Island and visit Radha Nagar Beach. On completion of the visit, the Committee will depart for Kolkata on Aug 28.
