Massive drive against illegal sale of liquor

To fulfil its commitment regarding crackdown on illegal sale of liquor, the South Andaman Police conducted a concerted drive against illegal sale of liquor in South Andaman Sub Division on the night of  May 3, where several teams were formed and raids were conducted in various areas of police stations Aberdeen, Pahargaon and Chatham simultaneously. Areas such as Dairy Farm, Marine Dockyard, Junglighat Jetty, Bathu Basti, Barmanallah etc were targeted with different teams of police stations, led by SDPO South Andaman, Shri. Nishant Gupta, SHO Aberdeen, Shri A. K. Singh, SHO Pahargaon Shri. Sahil Samshuddin and SHO Chatham, Shri Abdul Rehman. In this exercise, three cases of excise violation were registered with recovery of more than 10 bottles of IMFL.
In the last two weeks, the police of South Andaman Sub-division has succeeded in recovering 60 bottles of IMFL and 336 kg of illicit Handia from the possession of accused persons. In this regard 41 cases under section 32 Regulation III of 1876 have been registered at Police Stations of South Andaman Sub Division and 41 involved persons were arrested on the spot.  Efforts are being made to curb the illegal distillation/illegal sale of IMFL & illicit liquor in South Andaman Sub Division.
