Massive ganja haul by CID

Acting on a tip-off,  two separate teams of CID, one outside and one inside the Port Blair VSI Airport maintained surveillance on Sunday. At about 7.45 am, surveillance was mounted on passengers arriving from Kolkata by Jet Airways. Once identified, three suspects were apprehended and their luggage checked thoroughly in the parking area, where six packets wrapped in duct tape was found hidden in clothes. The packets when opened revealed 9.435 kg of ganja, one of the biggest hauls in recent times.
Milan Krishna Roy (43),  son of late Atindra Roy, resident of  Bakultala, Rangat, his wife Ms. Sabita Roy (37) and Babul Haldar (57) son of late Suresh Haldar, resident of  Shantipur, Nadia District, West Bengal were arrested by the CID teams. A case of NDPS Act-1985 has been registered at PS CCS and investigation to learn the source of the contraband drugs is in progress. The successful operation was carried out by staff of Special Branch and CCS namely Inspector D. Jagdishwar Rao, Inspector Abdul Arif, SI Abdul Nazir, ASI Jarumba, HC/1516 Ajay Kumar, HC/877 Kuldip Singh, PC/775 Arun Xaxa, PC/966 P.K. Mondal, PC/2089 Sarfudeen, PC/1004 Suraj Kumar, LPC/1012 Indumathi and others under able supervision of DySP(CID) B. Saigal. The general public have been requested to pass information regarding sale or possession of contraband products or any illegal activity to the telephones- 100, 232586,233307. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
