Medical evacuation by Coast Guard A & N region

At around 8.50 am on Saturday, a message received from the Vessel MT Afra Hawthorn requesting for immediate medical evacuation of an Indian patient who was suffering from acute abdominal pain and associated disorders. Coast Guard Interceptor Boat sailed immediately from Campbell Bay to evacuate the patient from Motor tanker. The vessel was en route from Egypt to Tanjung Pelepas (Malaysia) at a distance of 45 NM South West of Campbell Bay. In the meantime Coast Guard Medical Officer provided tele-medical advice. At about 11.50 am Coast Guard interceptor boat evacuated the patient at high sea. The patient Mr. Tejinder Singh was provided first-aid and medical assistance and was brought to Campbell Bay. On arrival he was transferred to Primary Health Centre, Campbell Bay for further treatment. The condition of patient was reported stable.
The Indian Coast Guard has once again shown its commitment to safety of mariners at sea by responding at the very first instance. The MRCC Port Blair is committed 24 x 7 to respond to any eventuality at sea and to take action instantaneously on receipt of any information.
