Meeting finalizes action plan for mock exercise at Havelock

In order to enhance the disaster preparedness, a coordination conference-cum-meeting has been convened under the Chairmanship of Dy. Commissioner, South Andaman in the Conference Hall of DC Office, South Andaman on 08.06.2017 with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and all stakeholders of this UT for preparation of Action Plan and finalization of scenarios for conducting of Mock Exercise on Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness scheduled to be held on 11th & 12th June, 2017 at Havelock Island jointly organised by National Disaster Response Force, District Administration (S/A) and the Directorate of Disaster Management.
Mr Udit Prakash Ray, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman appraised the aims and objectives of the proposed exercise to the gathering. Mr Gyan Singh, Asst. Director, Directorate of Disaster Management presented a power point presentation on Action Plan for mock excise and briefed the scenarios of the Mock Exercise at Havelock Island and procedures of conducting of such Exercise. Ms Rekha Nambiar, Sr. Commandant NDRF, 04th Btn, Arrakonam, Tamil Nadu also shared her experiences on mock exercise as well as real time disasters and given valuable suggestions for smooth conduct of mock exercise. 
The Dy. Commissioner (S/A) defined each line department’s officers roles and responsibilities in a cogent manner to hold Mock Exercise which must depict as real time disaster and directed to involve all the PRIs and Stakeholders of the Havelock Island in the proposed Mock Exercise schedule to be held on 12.06.2017 at Havelock Island and take all precautionary measures before conducting the Mock Exercise.
