MGIS celebrates Independence Day, Janmashtami

Independence Day was celebrated befittingly at Mahatma Gandhi International School here on Tuesday. The Principal of the institution hoisted the national flag, which was followed by national anthem and patriotic songs presented by students of the school. Harshit of Class XII and Athithyan of Class IX spoke on the importance of the day. An Oratorical competition was conducted on the occasion.
Janamashtmi, birthday of Lord Krishna, was also celebrated in the school.  Mom’s of tiny tots presented ramp walk on the theme ‘Me & mom’ as a part of celebration. A special dance was presented by the students of grade 1 and Ukg depicting Gopies represents thoughts in harmony and churn (climbing up on each other) the milky curd (concentrated thoughts) produce butter (makkhan) which is nothing but the essence of love. Celebration concluded by a esthetic ‘Handi Phod’ through draw of lots, where five groups of tiny tots got the chance to break the handi, followed by a commendable free form dance by children, moms and teachers. The Principal Mrs. Rahida Kabeer addressed the gathering.
