Mobile CBNAAT Vans to undertake Active Case Finding of TB

The Central TB Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi has provided two Mobile CBNAAT Vans to RNTCP A&N Island for undertaking Active Case Finding of Tuberculosis and thus to use this facility to fulfill the gaps in diagnostic access under the diagnostics policy of RNTCP. The Mobile CBNAAT Van was launched on  August 10 at 12.00 PM by Mr  K. R. Meena (IAS), Principal Secretary (Health), A&N Administration in the premises of G.B. Pant Hospital. CBNAAT (Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test ) is a molecular test which diagnose  TB by detecting  the presence of TB bacteria in biological specimens like sputum, pleural fluid etc. as well as testing for resistance to the anti TB Drug Rifampicin.
The Mobile CBNAAT Van is equipped with CBNAAT Machine with all necessary attachments like cartridge, printer, refrigerator and generator. The Mobile CBNAAT Van will be utilised for facilitating early diagnosis of MDR-TB (Drug Resistant TB) and Drug Sensitive TB in high risk population through Active Case Finding. It will be utilized to reach populations living in remote, difficult areas and those communities cut-off from mainstream services. The CBNAAT provides results within 2 hours that enables prompt diagnosis and initiation of treatment
