Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair’s model has secured a coveted place among the best 11 models across the country at a National Showcase Forum held in New Delhi in November, 2017. The programme was conducted by Intel under ATAL INNOVATION MISSION. The chief guest of the programme, Director of AIM, Mr Ramanan appreciated the Islands’ team for its creativity
Master B. Vikram and R. Raghunath both students of Class XIIth have developed the model ‘Reflection Coconut Dryer’ under the supervision of the guide teacher Mr Chanchal Dey, PGT. By using this model the plucking and drying of coconut from the trees will become easier, with the help of the installed sensors the data about the plantation area can be determined. The most important fact is that it eliminates the chances of accidents which generally happen in traditional form of plucking of coconut by climbing on the trees. The dryer facility will be of immense use as it will get the coconuts dry even during adverse seasons. If this model is transformed from prototype to real version then definitely the farming community will be benefited.
