MP bags govt’s assurance to double farmers’ income in isles

The Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray has raised the issue of implementation of “Soil Health Card’ Scheme of Govt. of India for the welfare of the farmers of these islands with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
In response, Mr Trilchan Mohapatra, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture& Farmers Welfare informed that analysis of 2000 nos. samples had already been completed within the prescribed time frame and the Soil Health Cards have been distributed in the larger interest of farmers and other stake holders of A & N Islands.  Further, the Central Island Agriculture Research Institute (CIARI) has conducted awareness programmes on Soil Health Cards Scheme of the Govt. of India for sensitizing the farmers of all the three districts of A & N Islands, he said.
The Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has also assured the Member of Parliament to make maximum efforts for extending scientific and technological support for sustainable food & nutritional security and also to realize the dream of Prime Minster, Mr Narendra Modi to double the farmer’s income in A & N Islands.
