Municipal Council grants casual status, enhanced wage benefits to 257 DRMs

In a big relief to hundreds of workers, the Municipal Council granted casual status to senior most daily rated mazdoors of the civic body on Friday. At a function held in the Ambedkar auditorium, the Chairperson, Mr B Eswar Rao issued official orders to 257 DRMs to this effect which entitles them to receive wages of 1/30th of pay in the minimum of the relevant pay scale plus dearness allowance which will lead to additional monthly wages of around Rs 10,000 per month along with other admissible benefits with effect from July 1, 2017. Mr N.K.Udaya Kumar, Senior Vice Chairperson, Mr Dharmendar Narayan, Junior Vice Chairperson, Smt Shashi Kaushal, Secretary (i/c), PBMC, Councillors, Officers and officials of the Council were also present in the occasion.
In his address, Mr Rao  said, transparency and  increased efficiency have resulted in substantial increase in the revenue of the civic body and it will be used for the welfare of its employees and the development of the city. The casual status has been granted to DRMs serving in the Council since 2010 on the basis of their seniority and the remaining pool of workers will be granted the benefit of the scheme soon. Steps are also being taken to promote about 200 casual mazdoors who are serving the council for the past 10-15 years to the post of regular mazdoors (WCM) within 30 days. “The Council has implemented other welfare schemes for mazdoors viz grant of compensation of Rs 2 lakh for death while on duty, Rs 2000/- for performing final rites of any mazdoor of the Council and free Community hall for ‘shradh’ ceremonies. In case, any madoor dies while on duty, family members of the deceased will be included in the muster roll of the Council. Group D employees of  the Council will also be granted Rs 5000 for marriage of their daughter,” said  Mr Rao expressing gratitude to the Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray and Secretary, Mr Yashpal Garg for their support in implementation of the welfare schemes.
In her address, Smt Kaushal said that the Municipal Council in one among few departments in the administration which was implemented the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission and the Chairperson deserves appreciation for his untiring efforts to ensure the welfare of the workforce. Every employee of the Council is a devoted worker with years of services in the agency and are working in perfect coordination to execute various developmental projects for the city, she added
