Naval NCC cadets take the noble Diwali route

A total of 47 NCC Cadets of 1(AN) Naval Unit NCC along with the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Jagatheesh Pandian of Indian Navy and other staff  lived up to the true spirit of Festival of Lights by visiting the orphanage and old age home “Abbhyuday ”at Ferrargunj on Tuesday to celebrate their Diwali with the inmates.
The NCC cadets presented a cultural programme for the children and senior citizens of the home and the Cadets also with the inmates cleaned the ship’s  surrounding areas of the old age to support the ‘Clean India’ initiative of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan. They spent quality time with abandoned elders, providing them with the much-needed feeling of togetherness and bonding of a family, and making this Diwali special and memorable. They distributed sweets and gifts to the inmates and received sweets in return from the children and senior citizens of Abbhyuday who showed their gratitude and happiness.
The Commanding Officer of the NCC unit mentioned that, the event was conducted under the guidance of the Commodore Vijesh K Garg, VSM, The Deputy Director General NCC (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar) with the support of Andaman Nicobar Administration to encourage the social responsibilities amongst the youth of this country and to motivate all citizens to come forward for the underprivileged.
