News 1 India launches ops in isles

India’s newest Hindi news brand, News 1 India, launched its operation in these islands on Thursday. The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr Anindo Majumdar, launched the channel, which will telecast news pertaining to these islands on prime time daily, in the presence of the Chairman, News 1 India, Mr A S Rawat.
“Andaman and Nicobar Islands fares much better when compared to other places in mainland in terms of historical importance, biodiversity, religious harmony and unity among people,” said Mr Majumdar in his address. There is need to give wider publicity to the unique features of these Islands, to enable more and more people of the country and the world gain knowledge about the vibrant features of these islands and its significance in the freedom struggle, diverse socio-culture, besides ongoing development activities. Such publicity through a through a strong medium like electronic media will draw more tourists to visit the Islands, he said hoping that operation of News 1 India in these islands will open more job opportunities for the local youth here.
Welcoming the gathering, the Chairman, News 1 India Channel, Mr A S Rawat minced no words in praising the exquisiteness of these pristine islands. “Though located remotely, these islands are now known prominently in the world atlas. I can assure the people of these islands that News 1 India Channel will ensure that the voice of these islanders reach the power corridors in New Delhi,” said Mr Rawat seeking cooperation from the administration in this direction.
The function was attended among others, by the Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad, Mr Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Chairperson PBMC, Mr B Eswar Rao and the Secretary (Ind.), Smt. Rashmi Singh.
