NGGOA slams govt for delay in redressal of employees’ welfare demands

In support of the All India Strike called by Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi, the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands organised protest programmes all over the islands on Thursday. A day-long mass dharna was organised at Tiranga Park from 9.30 am. Inaugurating the Mass Dharna, Mr Pronob Banerjee, Former President of the Association criticized the present government for delaying in grant of the genuine demands of the Central government employees. Mr P.Banerjee recalled the valiant struggles made in the past for achieving the benefits being enjoyed by the central government employees like bonus, DA, etc. Mr S.N.Mishra, Vice President of the Association explained in detail about the 21-point Charter of Demands which is submitted before the Govt. of India. A large number of government employees from various departments participated in the day-long Mass Dharna. In the evening a public meeting was organised which was attended by a large number of government servants including women employees.
Speaking on the occasion the General Secretary, Andaman Nicobar Gazetted Officers’ Association, Mr D.Ayyappan called upon the government employees to fight against the indifferent attitude of the government for implementing the assurance given by the Group of Minsters for the revision of Minimum Wages & Fitment factor. Shri S.P.Kalairajan, Circle Secretary, BSNL Employees’ Union also extended his support for organising such a programme and assured of every cooperation in future programmes. Mr T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association while expressing his views, criticised the government for adopting delaying techniques for the implementation of allowances & to resolve the issues being raised by the National Joint Council of Action and other organisation of Central government employees. He also highlighted various local burning issues which needs immediate intervention by the Administration for its early redressal.
Earlier, Mr D.N.Banerjee, Vice President of the association, who presided over the meeting, also expressed his views on various demands of central government employees. Mr G.P.Mandal, Mr Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Mr Anand Raj and Mr S.L.Vinjit also spoke on the occasion. Similar programmes were also organised in outer areas by the concerned Branch of the Association. In Diglipur a massive demonstration was organised in front of AC Office, Diglipur where a large number of employees participated. Mr Gopal Chandra Dey, Mr S.Arumugam, Mr Deepak Karmakar and Mr N.K.Paul spoke on the occasion. At Billyground a procession was taken out led by Mr Mritunjay, Mr S.Bawali and Mr Satyaban Gain. The Rangat branch of the Association organised a procession from Rangat Bazaar which was culminated to a massive demonstration in front of AC Office, Rangat. Mr B.Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, Mr Adaikkan, Mr Chandran, Mr Natarajan, Mr Sadan Chandra Das, Mr Karuppaiah & Mr Akbar Ali etc. addressed the gathering. A Massive demonstration was organised at Kadamtala where a large number of employees participated in the programme. Shri K.L.Howlader, Shri B.D.Paramanik and Shri P.L.Paik addressed the participants of the demonstration.
