North East folk dances at Andaman Bazar, ITF ground

The Sangeet Natak Akademi North-East Centre, Guwahati, Regional Centre of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Kala Kendra Society, Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration is organizing PURVOTTAR DHARA – a festival featuring artistes from North-Eastern States and Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Feb 9 to 11, 2018 from 6.30 pm onwards during Andaman Bazar at ITF Ground, VIP Road, Port Blair. During the 3 day festival, presentation of folk art forms such as Yak and Monpa Folk Dances of Arunachal Pradesh, Sattriya, Bihu and Bodo folk dances of Assam; Raas and Thang-Ta of Manipur; Wangala and Garo folk dances of Meghalaya; Cherraw (Bamboo Dance), Chhailam, Solokia and other folk dances of Mizoram; Folk dances of Nagaland; Bhutia folk dances of Sikkim and Hozagiri and Lebang Bomani dance of Tripura would be held.  Apart from this, folk presentation by local cultural troupes from Andaman & Nicobar Islands would also be held. The entry to the programme is free and open to all.
