The controversy involving Mrs Andaman Beauty Contest 2018 seems far from fading down. After allegations by Bollywood celebrities over unprofessional conduct of the event, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has now booked the organizer of the contest, DJ Entertainment, Soma Joseph under the SC and ST (Prevention Of Atrocities) Act, 1989. A tribal girl from the Nicobari community alleged that Soma Joseph abused her on the final day of the contest besides passing derogatory comments citing her ST status, said sources.
In her complaint to the Aberdeen Police, Soni Solemn, one of the contestants of Mrs Andaman Beauty Contest 2018 alleged that on the final day of the contest, while she was at the hotel reception, Soma Joseph started hurling abuses on her in full public glare. “She even went to the extent of insulting the Nicobari community and treated me like animals. She even used unparliamentary language against her in front of my daughter. I have approached the police for getting justice and hope that the accused will be punished as per law,” said the complainant.
A police personnel of PS Aberdeen confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Soma Joseph of DJ Entertainment. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway,” said the police personnel.
