A team of Our Rights Organisation (ORO) visited Hut Bay recently to take stock of issues in the region. In a letter to the Lt. Governor, copies of which were also sent to the Member of Parliament, Chief Secretary and the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr R Karunanithi, Vice-Chairman of ORO, said that majority of residents in Hut Bay complained about lack of regular Tehsildar in the area. Presently the Block Development Officer of Little Andaman is looking after the charge of Tehsildar as a result of which many revenue related works are pending causing difficulties to the people, he said.
The ORO Vice President invited attention of the administration towards improvement in BSNL services in Little Andaman, deployment of speed boats in the Port Blair-Hut Bay sector with air conditioner and better seating facilities for the benefit of regular ship passengers.
