PBMC auctions food kiosks, shops in city

Keeping the earlier promise of making the bidding process of  transparent the Port Blair Municipal Council conducted an auction for allotment of  kiosks at Nagar Palika Food Court near Aberdeen Bazar Post Office and shops at Mahatma Gandhi Market and at Dairy Farm Market.  Four kiosks at Food Court were auctioned for monthly rent ranging from Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 26,500 while five shops at Municipal Markets were allotted at monthly rent from Rs. 10,500 to 11,000.
The recent initiatives of PBMC for allotment through transparent and fair bidding process have yielded unprecedented results as the auction of kiosks at Nagar Palika Food Court will generate around Rs 1 crore per annum, auction of Marina-De-Café at Marina Park (around Rs 22 lakhs per annum), tender of parking lots (Rs 1 crore per year) and tender of hoarding sites (around 2 crores per year) for the PBMC treasury.
In a release, Mr B. Eswar Rao informed that all available vacant properties of PBMC will be shortly allotted through transparent and fair bidding process so that the unemployed youths of the islands get opportunities for self-employment
