The demolitions of the illegal extensions/encroachments by PBMC on 9th November, 2017 at Mohan Pura area and an appeal on 11th November, 2017 has yielded positive results. Many public spaces have been cleared by the shopkeepers voluntarily.
Shopkeepers removed encroachments from the Municipal Market at Haddo voluntarily on an appeal by Mr. SomeswarRao, Councillor Ward no. 02. Shopkeepers of Municipal Market at Prem Nagar Junction removed the illegal extensions/encroachments encouraged by Mr. Indrapal Singh, Chairperson PBMC and Councillor of Ward no.07. Shopkeepers at Mohanpura Market too have cleared the public places themselves. Mr. Yashpal Garg, Secretary PBMC has expressed satisfaction on the co-operation of public.  He said that the demolition drive was about to resume on Tuesday, 14th November, 2017 but considering the visible co-operation it has been deferred for a day or two. He said that prime objective is clear encroachments at the public areas to help emergency services like Fire, Police and Medical Ambulance etc., and most importantly during any natural disaster.
Mr. Garg appealed for cooperation from public, as property/items may get damaged on eviction drives by PBMC, stating that PBMC may go soft on actions like imposition of damage charges, registering cases with the Police and proceedings to cancel allotments, if people remove their encroachments in two days. However it has been made clear that demolition of remaining illegal extensions/encroachments will resume shortly and will be a continuing process.
