PMB rubbishes newspaper report

Port Blair
11 Dec 2017

The Port Management Board stated that the contents of the news item titled ‘Passengers & Tourists decry poor port services despite charging hefty service fee’ which appeared in a local newspaper on 11th December, 2017 is totally incorrect and baseless. PMB further reiterated that more than 250 passenger trolleys (better than the one provided at the airport) are available at the security checking point i.e. entry point for the port, toilets for ladies and gents are also available at the jetty, one at Passenger Hall and the another inside the Security Hall.  These services are available on free of cost to every passenger. The unawareness of the  tourists about these facilities is mainly  because  they do not pass frequently  with the port  and most of the  tour operators  also do not inform them about  the facilities available at the port. All the facilities available inside the port can be utilised by the passengers if they are informed and they wish to use. Therefore, all tour operators are requested to inform their guests, tourists about the facilities available at the port.  Similar facilities are available at the Haddo Wharf also.
