Poets regale islanders with wit, hilarity at Hasya Kavi Sammelan

As J Fisher, Britain’s best-loved, but little known, comedy entertainer puts it, “humour is a great way to lighten any atmosphere and laughing is a sure fire way to brighten your outlook”, people gathered in the auditorium of Govt. Girls SSS were treated to a joyful evening as poets from different parts of the country delighted them with their compositions at the ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’, organised by the Official Language Department in association with the Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration as part of the Island Tourism Festival- 2018.
The Lt. Governor, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) was the chief guest on the occasion. The Adhyaksha, ZPSA, Smti. Baby Fareeda, Smti. Rupa Ray, senior officers of the Administration and general public were also present on the occasion. The presentations by renowned poets viz. Padmashree Dr. Surendra Dubey from Raipur, Mr Gajendra Solanki from Delhi, Mr Jagbir Rathi from Haryana, Dr. Anil Choubey from Banaras, Mr Manveer ‘Madhur’ from Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Ruchi Chatruvedi from Agra had the gathering bursting with bouts of laughter. Satires, humour and patriotism were brought forth by the poets through their compositions during the captivating evening. Mr Gajendra Solanki coordinated the programme.
