Mumbai visitor dies

A 74 year old tourist from Ghatkopar, Mumbai, died due to prolonged illness during his visit to these islands recently. Bhavna Kumari, wife of the deceased, Arun Malhar Kulkarni, in the statement to the police said that on March 2 at around 3.30 pm, they returned to Hotel Coral Cove after sight-seeing trip to Jolly Buoy and Wandoor. A few hours later, she found her husband unconscious in the bathroom and he was rushed to the hospital immediately by the police team where doctors declared him brought dead. A case under section 174 Cr.PC has been registered. 

Theft

A gold necklace weighing around 16 gms rupees has been reported to be stolen from a house at Hathi Tapu, Namunaghar recently. In the statement to the police, Smt Anita Mondal said that at around 11 am on March 3, she found the ornament missing from her suitcase. A case under section 380 IPC has been registered against unknown person(s).

One held with ganja

The Pahargaon Police has arrested a 37 year old resident of Ferrargunj with 52 gms of illicit ganja on March 4. The accused, Rajesh Kumar Bepari, was intercepted by the police team led by SHO Pahargaon, Inspector Sahil Samsuddin along with Sub Inspector Jeevan Kishen, Constables Bhaskar Rao  and Rakesh at around 7.40 pm near the parking lot in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused reportedly admitted that he procured the contraband from mainland. A case under section 20(a)(1) NDPS Act 1985 has been registered.
