Burglary at house of hardware shopowner

Three labourers of a Hollow Block factory located at Diglipur allegedly committed burglary at a house in Subhashgram recently and decamped with cash worth lakhs and gold ornaments. The Diglipur Police arrested all the three accused and a case under section 454/380/34 IPC has been registered. In the statement to the police, Mohim Kumar Das said that he kept the daily collection of his hardware shop namely, Pritima Enterprise, amounting to Rs 6.12 lakh in the almirah of his house as banks were closed on March 12 and 13. On March 13, he noticed three labourers, namely Sanjeeb Halder, Kamal Ram and SC Ommier working at the Hollow Block factory. On the next day, the victim went to his house to collect the money kept in the almirah, but to his shock found the amount missing. He even found gold ornaments consisting two chains weighing 8 grams, three pairs of ear rings and two finger rings stolen from the residence. He suspected that the three labourers working near his house may have unbolted screws of the door lock assembly to commit the burglary. After investigation, the police arrested all the three accused involved in the offence.

Tailor dies in road mishap

In a tragic incident, a tailor of  Diglipur area lost his life in a road accident. Ramanathan was travelling on an STS bus to Hathilevel along with 8-10 passengers on March 19. The driver of the bus was allegedly driving in a high speed when the victim was on the footboard. Suddenly, a passenger asked the conductor to stop the bus after which the driver applied brakes in haste. Ramanathan lost his control and was tossed out of the bus. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to CHC Diglipur where doctors declared him brought dead. A case under section 304(A)/34 IPC has been registered as PS Diglipur.

Alcohol addict commits suicide

A resident of Telugu Basti, Pahargaon, committed suicide on the 14th of this month. K Ramu was addicted to alcohol and was suffering from some illness for the past two months. In the statement to the Police, the deceased’s wife, K Ganga Laxmi, said that at around 11.30 pm, she noticed her husband missing from the house. After some time, the deceased was found hanging at a location near his residence. A case of unnatural death has been registered as PS Aberdeen.

Fire mishaps

Fire fighter averted grass fire at Phoenix Bay reported caused due to sparks on a nearby power transformer on the 14th of this month. Fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Another fire mishap was averted at Arong village in Car Nicobar after a tree caught fire reportedly due to careless smoking.
