Coop. bank employee booked for abusing co-worker

The police have registered a case against an employee of the Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank for voluntarily causing hurt and obstructing a public servant from discharging his public functions on Tuesday. In the statement to the police, the complaint, daily rated employees of the bank posted at Wimberlygunj said that on March 18 at around 2.45 pm while she was performing her duties, one Ali Khan talked to her in an indecent manner. When objected, the accused started abusing her after which the matter was reported to the Branch Manager, who assured to take up the matter with the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of A & N State Cooperative Bank for amicable settlement. Finding no response from the senior authorities, the victim on Tuesday lodged a complaint against Ali Khan. A case under section 332/186 IPC has been registered.

Theft at Calicut

Unidentified persons committed theft at a house in Calicut near Pema Junction. KP Aysha Bibi, an ayah posted at Garacharma Hospital, said that on March 19 after returning to home from her night shift, she found the lock of her tenant’s room broken. On Tuesday, her tenant, Tataiah, after returning from mainland, informed that an amount of Rs 3000 in coins has been stolen from his residence. The police haveregistered a case under section 457/380 IPC.

Fire mishaps

Fire fighter averted a major forest fire at Srinagar area in Diglipur on March 18. The fire team rushed to the spot at around 6.30 am and brought the blaze under control. Forest official also rendered support in the fire fighting operation. In another accident, a grass fire was brought under control near Tushnabad Graveyard. Careless smoking is believed to be the cause of the fire.
