Two held with 2.1 kgs of suspected marine turtle meat at Garacharma

The South Andaman Police on Tuesday seized 2.1 kg of fresh turtle meat from the possession of two residents of Garacharma. Acting on a credible information, the police team, led by Inspector SahilSamsuddin and Sub Inspector Jeevaj, under the supervision of Dy.SP MA Naushad, intercepted the accused identified as Narayan Roy and Surojit Das and seized the marine turtle, protected under Wildlife Act, from their possession. The accused were found reportedly involved in similar cases registered at Ograbraj and Humfreygunj Police stations. The recovered meat was later handed over to the Ranger of Wildlife Division for further action as per law.

Beodnabad man commits suicide over marital discord

A 35 year old resident of MaccaPahad, Beodnabad, South Andaman allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday. The deceased, 35 year old, T Shiva Kumar, son of late ThangaSwamy, reportedly took the extreme step out of depression due to marital dispute. The incident was reported to the police by Smt T Sundri, wife of late ThangaSwamy. The police have registered a case of unnatural death under section 174 Cr.PC.
