Secunderabad Police nabs native of Andaman

The Secunderabad Police on Tuesday arrested a resident of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for his involvement in an attention diversion case. The cops nabbed the thief identified as Sarthak Rao Babras alias Akhtar, 38 years and recovered two gold chains from his possession, said sources. Sarthak Rao Babras is a habitual offender who also served a term at Tihar Jail, New Delhi. He is allegedly involved in several other criminal cases of cheating and forgery. He is also accused of getting in to star hotels using fake identity proofs. He stays there and escapes without paying bills. In 2014, Sartak Rao Babras, a resident of RGT road here, was arrested by cops for kidnapping a girl. He reportedly posed to be an Indian Navy Officer and prevented the girl from contacting her parents. After sustained and painstaking efforts by the police, the accused was arrested from a hotel at Buniyadabad and the victim was handed over to her parents.

Elderly woman found dead at Subhashnagar
The Aberdeen Police on Tuesday found a decomposed body of an elderly woman at Subhashnagar area of Shadipur. In the statement to the Police, Smt Dipali Majumdar, resident of Mazar Pahad said that her mother, Kalpana Majumder, suffered a paralysis attack and was bed-ridden since one month and resided with her brother, Paritosh Majumder at Shadipur. On Tuesday, neighbours informed over phone about foul smell emanating from her mother’s residence. The matter was informed to the Police, which recovered the dead body from the house. The body was then shifted to GB Pant hospital for autopsy.

Ganja peddler held from Mahaveer Nagar
The Pahargaon Police on Tuesday arrested a ganja peddler from Mahaveer Nagar, Bhatu Basti and seized 515 gms of the contraband from his possession. The accused has been identified as Rajnarayan Roy, 43 years, resident of Mahaveer Nagar and a private worker by profession. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. Acting on a tip off about a person possessing illicit ganja and looking for customers to sell it at Mahaveer Nagar, Kaju Bagicha, a raiding team was constituted as per the directions of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, South Andaman and headed by SHO PS Pahargaon. The team intercepted the accused with a white colour cotton carry bag and after frisking the contraband was found in his possession. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the ganja was procured from Kolkata. Further investigation is underway.
