Road mishap

Two residents of Mazar Pahad suffered injuries in a road accident at School Line recently. In the statement to the police, one of the victim, M Kathirvel said that on the 19th of this month, he along with a pillion rider was heading towards Junglighat from Sippighat area. At School Line, an over-speeding four-wheeler bearing registration no. AN01E1822 coming from the opposite direction hit their two-wheeler and fled from the scene. The injured were sent to GB Pant Hospital by PCR for treatment. In the statement, Kathirvel requested the police to take appropriate action against the four-wheeler driver.

4 more held for vending liquor in public

Continuing its crackdown on illegal sale of liquor, the South Andaman Police arrested at least four persons for vending liquor without permit since last Saturday. Constables from Police Station, Aberdeen arrested one Dasradh Behra, 59 years, resident of Babu Line behind Netaji Club from Babu Line area and seized two 750 ml bottles of IMFL from his possession. On Sunday, a team from Central Crime Station, arrested a 32 year old resident from Dudh Line near Gyanam House for serving liquor to people. The accused has been identified as A Pandi, resident of Phoenix Bay and two bottles of 750 ml IMFL and one 180 ml bottles of liquor along with plastic glasses and water were seized from his possession. In another raid at Delanipur near Robert Cool Drink Shop, cops from PS CCS arrested one  C Arun, 26, resident of Buniyadabad for the same offence and seized two bottles of 750ml IMFL and one 375 ml of IMFL from his possession. During routine patrol last Saturday, cops from PS CSS arrested one Raja Gopal, 33 years, resident of Calicut from a location near Dawatch Restaurant, Delanipur. 13 bottles of 180ml IMFL were seized from his possession. All the accused have been booked under section 32 Reg III of 1876.
