Bus driver attacks another with knife at Goal Ghar
Bid to grab more passengers turned hostile when a private bus driver attacked another at Goal Ghar after an altercation on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 8.30 am when the accused, identified as Raju, in a fit of rage, assaulted Prabhu, also a bus driver with a knife. The blood vein of the hand of the victim got slit in the attack and he was rushed to GB Pant Hospital for treatment. There was temporary chaos at the crucial Goal Ghar Junction after the incident which was resolved after the intervention of traffic police. An FIR has been registered at PS Aberdeen, as per sources.

Municipal worker injured in road mishap
A 44 year old resident of Wimberygunj sustained injuries in a road accident on Tuesday. The victim, Mr Bashir, an employee of the Municipal Council was out for office works when an over speeding car heading towards Aberdeen Bazar hit him near Model School. The car driver took the victim to GB Pant Hospital where doctors diagnosed him for a fractured leg, said sources.

More bootleggers held
Continuing its crackdown on illegal sale of liquor, the South Andaman Police arrested at least six bootleggers from different parts of the city. On Wednesday, cops from Police Station, Aberdeen noticed one Sanjay Baral, 31 years, private worker and resident of Corbyn’s Cove serving liquor to people at Corbyn’s Cove without permit. Two 750 ml bottle of IMFL, disposable glasses and packaged drinking water was seized from his possession. At Mohanpura near Vegetable Market, Head Constable V Hentho and Constables D Shiv Kumar and Sudeep Kumar booked one Immam Rashi, 36 years, resident of Bambooflat for the same offence and seized one 180 ml bottle of liquor, drinking water and disposable glasses from his possession. Another person identified as Bijoy Mazumdar, 45 years, resident of Junglighat, was found committing the same offence at Dairyfarm near PS Mill. Two 750 ml bottles of IMFL were seized from his possession. One A Raja, 40 years, resident of  Krishna Nagar, Shadipur was also arrested for vending liquor illegally from Shadipur Junction on Wednesday. One 750 ml bottle of IMFL, one 180 ml bottle of liquor, disposable glasses and packaged drinking water were seized from his possession. Cops from Central Crime Station arrested two persons for the same offence on Tuesday. As Shadipur, Head Constable AK Singh and Constable HK Yadav found one Dipankar Biswas, 29 years, resident of Junglighat serving liquor to people illegally. Two 750ml bottles of liquor were seized from his possession. Another person identified as P Madhavan, 28 years, resident of Japan Road, Dairyfarm was held for the same offence at Corbyn’s Cove Junction on Tuesday. Three 750ml bottles of IMFL, disposable glasses and packaged drinking water were seized from the possession of the accused. All the accused have been booked under section 32 Reg III of 1876.
