Hitachi Operator slits throat, dies
In a horrific incident, a 26 year old private worker committed suicide by allegedly slitting his throat on Friday. The parents of the deceased, identified as Tamil Arasan, a Hitachi Operator and resident of Austinabad, rushed him to GB Pant Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The Police has registered a case under appropriate sections of the law, said sources Tamil Arasan was reportedly under depression over a marital dispute. He was also arrested for assaulting his wife a few months ago. He was scheduled to proceed to Havelock for work on Friday, but came back home in inebriated state. He initially attemped suicide by hanging himself, but after his parents prevented him from taking the extreme step, the deceased slit his throat with a sharp knife. Sources said that the Hitachi Operator died within 3 minutes on the spot.

Road mishap
Driver of a four-wheeler narrowly escaped injuries after falling into a road side drain near Minnie Bay junction on Friday. The mishap occurred in the early hours today when the driver of the Omni Van, whose identity could not be ascertained, was racing with some of his friends. He lost control over the vehicle, which veered off the road and plunged into the drain. Sources said that the Police challaned the driver for reckless driving.
