Rampur youth held on molestation charges

An 18 year old resident of Rampur, Rangat in Middle Andaman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting an on-duty government employee with the intent to outrage her modesty. The incident occurred at Morrice Dera beach after which the accused identified as Indrajit Biswas was booked under sections 332/353/354 IPC. Further investigation is underway.

63 yr old commits suicide
An elderly citizen of Rangat in Middle Andaman committed suicide on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Nandu Ram Tirkey, 63 years, retired employee of the Electricity Department, was reportedly under extreme depression over prolonged illness. He took the extreme step by himself using a rope in the bathroom of his residence. The Police has registered a case of unnatural death and is further investigating the matter.

13 bootleggers held for violating Dry Days
Despite strict surveillance by the law enforcing agencies, Dry Days doesn’t really remain dry in these islands particularly in different parts of the city. On Thursday and Friday, declared as Dry Days by the District Administration on account of Dussehra, the Aberdeen Police arrested at least 13 persons for illegally selling liquor. During patrol, Constables Suresh Kumar and Sudeep Kumar arrested one R Sabari Nathan, 29 years, resident of Sisty Nagar for serving liquor to people at a public place near Mohanpura Marine Hall on Friday. Two 750ml bottles of IMFL containing around 550 ml liquor, water bottle and disposable glasses were seized from his possession. Another person identified as G Appa Rao, 45 years, resident of Gandhi Market, was arrested for the same offence from Nayagaon, near Uma Shankar Hotel on Friday. One 750 ml and one 375ml bottle of IMFL containing about 500ml and one water bottle was seized from his possession.
Police Constables Suresh Kumar, Sudeep Kumar and D Shiv Kumar arrested another person from School Line near Municipal on Friday where the accused identified as KV Nageshwar Rao, 63 years, resident of School Line was found serving liquor to people on Friday. Two 750 ml bottles of IMFL containing about 350 ml liquor, water bottle and disposable glasses were seized from this possession. At Nayagaon, another person G Kumar, 35 yrs, resident of Nayagaon, was found committing the same offence. Two 750 ml bottles of IMFL containing about 550 ml, water bottle and one disposable glass was seized from his possession. On Thursday, also declared as Dry Day by the District Administration, the Aberdeen Police arrested at least nine persons for violating rules and serving liquor to people in different parts of the city. The accused have been identified as Abdul, 50 years, resident of Phoenix Bay, A Raja, 42 years, resident of Shadipur, Sheik Halim, 62 years, resident of Nayagaon, Om Kumar Thapa, 49 years, resident of Phoenix Bay, S Murugan, 43, resident of Babu Line, S Satyanarayan, 52, resident of Dairyfarm, Mohammed Arif, 52, resident of Round Basti, R Murugesan, 50, resident of Dairfarm and Dasrath Behra, 62 years, resident of Babu Line. Several bottles of IMFL, packaged drinking water and disposable glasses were seized from their possession. All the accused have been booked under section 32 of Regulation III of 1876.
