The monsoon has already set over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in view of inclement weather conditions, the line faults are inevitable resulting in disturbance in power supply for which the staff of Electricity Department work round the clock to resume the supply after rectifying the defects. The major faults noticed in the past are entangling of Coconut leaves, Areca nut leaves, Twigs, falling of trees/tree branches resulting in snapping of conductor and failure of equipments (Insulators, lightning arresters etc).
The Electricity Department requests the consumer to inform the nearest site office if they observe flash, abnormal sound in the electricity distribution system so that the technical team can reach to take necessary safety measures and rectify the defect. The falling and snapping of electric line could be dangerous, hence, the general public are requested that on sighting of such happenings, may kindly inform the nearest Site Offices, Police Stations and Fire Stations so that necessary safety measures can be taken. The general public are also requested/cautioned not to touch or come near the snap lines and also not allow other people and cattle etc. to come near the snap lines.
