Power Ministry approves LNG Terminal, 50 MW Power Plant at Hope Town

Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, MP Andaman is very concerned  in the matter of load shedding/interruption of power supply and as such he has taken up the issue with the Ministry of Power, Govt of India for sorting out the crises and to provide un-interrupted power supply. The Ministry of Power has accorded principal approval for setting up of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal and 50 MW power plants at Shore Point, South Andaman District. Meanwhile, a meeting for review of the status has been also conveyed under the Chairmanship of  Minister of Power on 10-01-2018, wherein, it has been decided, that the Administration M/s Petronet LNG Ltd may be installed FSRU and 50 MW Power Plant may be set up by NTPC. It was further deliberated that A & N Administration may issue a letter of award to M/s PLL for procurement of the plant.
Mr. Ray. vide his letter dated March 13 has requested the Administration for  taking expeditious action to issue award of concession / license to installed Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) Terminal in reference to the letter of the M/s Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) dated 09-02-2018 and  also to issue a letter of award to M/s Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) for procurement of plant for setting up 50 MW duel fuel engine at Port Blair by M/s National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)Limited at the identified site to mitigate the power crises in the large interest of Islanders.
