In the evening on Friday, Sikh youth congregated with slogans painted on emblazoned placards at Shaheed Dr. Diwan Singh Kalepani’s memorial at Aberdeen Bazar to protest against the release of the movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’. The protest was a part of worldwide protests against the film by the Sikh community. The reason for demanding the ban on the film is the depiction of Guru Nanak Dev in Human Form which is against Sikhism according to the protesters. The Sikhs have requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Government of India to look into the matter and stop the film from being released in the theatres.
