“Q-RIOSITY” contest by Coast Guard

Coast Guard Region (A & N) conducted the Coast Guard Inter-School Quiz competition “Q-Riosity - 2017” during the ongoing celebrations to commemorate the 41st Coast Guard Raising Day. The competition was conducted for the students of class VIII to XII and nine teams comprising two  participants each from schools of Port Blair participated in the preliminary round held on  January 23.

The event accorded a unique opportunity for students to enhance general knowledge, scientific temper and inquisitiveness. The interaction enables Indian Coast Guard to enlighten the young minds on duties and responsibilities of the service as well promote career opportunities in the Coast Guard. The final round comprising six teams was hosted by Coast Guard Ship Rajveer on  January 28 at the Anthropological Survey of India auditorium, Port Blair.  Master Siddhant Raja and Vshal Singh of Navy Children School were adjudged winners and the team from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya comprising Master Pratik Yadav and Pratick were declared runners up. Mr B Eswar Rao, Chairperson PBMC was the chief guest of the event and encouraged students to strive with right earnest in pursuit of knowledge and excellence.

A quiz competition was also conducted at Little Andaman by Coast Guard Station, Hut Bay. A total of five  school teams from the Islands participated in the event and Miss. P Kalaivani and Reethu Modal of GSS School, RK Pur won the competition, says a release from the PRO, Coast Guard A & N Region.
