RDS Projects bag Humfrey Strait bridge project, NH-223 execution on track

MP assures big infrastructure push for ANI

In a major infrastructure push for this territory, National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), which after a decision of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, bagged the task of road up-gradation of Andaman Trunk Road, is all set to award the project for construction of a bridge over Humfrey Strait in Middle Andaman. Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, the Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray, informed that RDS Projects Pvt. Limited has bagged the contract which is to execute the project for an estimated amount of Rs 223 crores. Award of the project for execution is expected by the end of this month, said Mr Ray. The former Chairperson of Municipal Council, Smt Sheela Singh, was also present for the press interaction.
Elaborating on other road sector projects, Mr Ray said that the Ministry of Road Transport has accorded in-principle approval for development and maintenance of the National Highway-223. “Contract for development of the highway road from Bhatu Basti to Chouldhari including extension process is expected to be awarded soon. Similarly, the Ministry is committed to execute other road and bridge projects for this territory and finalization of the tender process is expected to be completed soon,” said Mr Ray.
On the issue of Municipal taxes, the MP said that the issues were discussed in detail during a recent meeting of the civic body. “The resolutions have been put on hold and implementation of the amended tax policy will be taken after holding elaborate discussion with all stakeholders. City residents don’t need to worry as the Council will ensure no trouble as a fresh committee has been constituted to look into the concerns,” added Mr Ray.
