Refresher course for Forest Guards underway at FTI

The One Week Refresher Course for the frontline staff (Forest Guards) of the Department of Environment & Forests commenced at Forest Training Institute (FTI), Wimberlygunj on today, the 24th September, 2018. Mr Diganta Gogoi, Chief Conservator of Forests (Development & Utilization) was the chief guest of the inaugural function.
The course sponsored by the Directorate of Forest Education, Dehradun, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India is aimed at acquainting the field staff with the latest concepts and trends in forestry, wildlife, environment and allied subjects. Inaugurating the course, Shri. Diganta Gogoi, IFS, CCF (D&U), the chief guest of the function asked the course participants to discharge their duties with devotion and to do their best in the overall development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands safeguarding the ecological sanctity of the Islands. The guest of honour, Mr M. Raj Kumar, IFS, CCF (Research & Working Plan) & Chairperson, FTI appealed the course participants to gain enough practical knowledge on forestry so as to equip themselves for the conservation and management of the unique biodiversity of the islands. The Director of the Institute, Mr Joju P. Alappatt, while addressing the course participants, elaborated on the objectives of organizing such courses from time to time and apprised the participants about the course contents. Mr Sukumar Das, Course Coordinator, Instructor, FTI proposed the vote of thanks.
