Representatives of Seafarers Confederation of India discuss various issue of local qualified crew & officers with LG

The representatives of the Seafarers Confederation of India, today called on the Lt. Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Niwas. They apprised the Lt. Governor about the problems and difficulties faced by the qualified local crew and officers working on the DSS vessels of the Administration. They also informed about the problems faced by the local candidates while appearing in the examination conducted by the Shipping Corporation of India, at Mumbai for recruitment to various posts in vessels operated by SCI. The Lt. Governor was urged to provide greater opportunities for engagement of local Merchant Navy Officers working in the ships operated by the DSS and manned by SCI in the Inter Island as well as Mainland-Island sectors.
