Residential camp under SEP for students at FTI

A two-day Project Facilitation Camp for school students under the Sustainability Education Programme (SEP) for schools was held at Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj. The residential camp was organised by C.P.R Environmental Education Centre, Port Blair in collaboration with Dept. of Environment and Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Administration under Wipro Earthian-2018 campaign for the selected school students of the Islands. The camp is aimed at generating awareness and skill for various projects under the themes biodiversity and water. Resource persons from Forest training Institute, Wimberlygunj, C.P.R Environmental Education Centre and Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Field Station, Shoal Bay led various sessions. Altogether 40 students and 10 teachers from Govt. Model Sr, Sec. School, Aberdeen, Port Blair, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Bathubasthi, Port Blair, Crescent Public School, Wimberlygunj, Vitala Public School, Hopetown, Nirmala Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair, Sagaritara School, Port Blair, Vivekanandha Kendriya Zilla Parishad Vidylaya, Port Mout, Saraswathi Shishu Mandir, Pathergudda and Navy Children School, Minne Bay attended the camp. They actively participated in the entire camp updating their knowledge and skills on different themes of the camp and taking up various practical assignments on different topics. The whole activities of the camp were coordinated by Mr A. Gopal, Project Officer, CPR Environmental Education Centre, Port Blair and Mr Joju P. Alappatt, Director, Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj who also led various sessions in the two days’ programmes. Mr Sukumar Das, Instructor, Forest Training Institute, Mr Deb Kumar Bhadra, Technical Officer, Field Station, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Shoal Bay and Mr U. Thirunavukarasu, Senior Environmental Education Officer, CPREEC, Chennai were the other resource persons of the Camp.
