Poor condition of  bus stands in the city is not only causing considerable inconvenience to commuters but also earning bad names for the civic body. Many old bus stands, particularly in the newly includes Municipal Wards are in a pitiable shape. Poor sanitation and lack of repair and maintenance deters commuters to use the facility rendering them totally redundant.
People complain that it is difficult to stand under the scorching heat. Some bus shelters have broken or completely missing roofs providing little protection from heat and rain. In the absence of repairs, the shelters have become home to stray animals.
“The PBMC is going a great  job and the efforts towards providing better civic amenities are visible. But the dilapidated bus stands in our areas appear in contrast to the civic body reputation. Seldom can a person be seen utilizing the bus stand in our areas. People prefer to bear the scorching sun rather that the shade of the decrepit shade. Expectations are high among the residents that the Council will soon take action to renovate the bus stand in our areas,” said a Prothrapur resident.
