Saplings planted

The Port Blair Municipal Council observed World Environment Day during which saplings were planted in the office of the Junior Engineer (Water Supply) division Dollygunj Ward No-17. The Senior Vice Chairperson, PBMC Mr N.K.Udhaya Kumar and Junior Vice Chairperson Mr Dharmendra Narayan planted over 200 saplings in the office premises in the presence of the staff of water section.
The District Administration of South Andaman conducted a massive tree planting drive at New Wandoor beach, Mundapahar beach and in the premises of Tushnabad Primary Health Centre to create awareness on protection of environment and forest. Altogether 290 seedlings were planted. Beach cleaning exercise was also carried out at New Wandoor and Mundqapahar beaches. The local PRI members, villagers, tourists, officials of PHC Tushnabad and Forest Deptt enthusiastically participated in the programme.
