Seminar-cum- study tour for students by CGEWCC

An awareness seminar and study tour for the  about 60 participating school students of CPWD complex was conducted by The Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC), Port Blair recently, in association with Zoological Survey of India, Port Blair at its auditorium. Dr. N. V. Vinith Kumar, Vice Chairman, CGEWCC was the chief guest and Mr. S. Edward, Secretary, CGEWCC was the guest of honour who were welcomed along with students and parents by Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Officer-in-charge, A&N Regional Centre, ZSI who highlighted the importance of this seminar in the inaugural session, who also gave a detailed presentation on the activities of ZSI, faunal diversity of A&N Islands with special reference to Avifauna. He shared his experience of 36th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica and importance of preservation of the polar ecosystem, discussing fauna, flora and climate of Antarctica in order to enlighten the participants, which included a video of the Anarctica covering southern ocean and Indian Scientific Research Station at Antarctica.
