Seminar on evolving development strategies, issues & challenges facing PACs today

A day-long seminar on “Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACs)–Rural Credit Institution-Issues and Challenges-Evolving Development Strategies” sponsored by NABARD, Port Blair will be organized by Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative Training Centre of Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union tomorrow. Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union will inaugurate the seminar at 10 am in the conference hall of the of A & N State Cooperative Union, Teylerabad.
The PACs of A & N Islands, formed in early 1960’s voluntarily by the farmers to meet their emergent credit needs for agriculture activities. The pace of growth of these PACs is low as it faces so many issues and challenges which not only hinder their growth but also pose a threat to their existence.
The proposed seminar aims to discuss the issues/challenges being faced by PACs and suggest ways and means to strengthen and make them viable and vibrant by increasing its volume of business by doing multifarious activities as per the needs and aspirations of its members. The eminent & experienced professionals in the field of cooperation will present their papers related to PACs development. Over 100 cooperative leaders, Board of Directors of PACs are expected to attend the seminar.
