Seminar on geotechnical engineering held at DBRAIT

A one-day state level seminar on Recent Trends in Geotechnical engineering services for  On-land and Marine constructions  was organized recently by the Civil Engineering Department of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Technology in association with Sarathy Geotech & Engineering Services Pvt Ltd., Bangalore. The seminar was highly interactive and guided the civil engineering professionals on the good practices and innovations in geotechnical engineering in terms of emerging technologies and materials for infrastructure development in the islands.
Brig. C.P.S. Pasricha, VSM of Anadaman & Nicobar Zone (MES) and Dr.T.G.Sitharam, Professor and founder chairman of Centre for infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation and urban Planning (CiSTUP), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore graced the inaugural session as the guests of honour. The technical session was chaired by Mr Krishnamurthy, DCE, ALHW and Mr Jenson Daniel, HOD (Civil) and offered indepth presentations on the geotechnical investigations required for high risk on-land and marine projects. The seminar witnessed significant representations from the Practicing Engineers of MES, ALHW, CPWD, APWD, BEL and Consultants & Contractors from private sectors, civil engineering graduates and students and served as a continuing education event for the civil engineers involved in the islands’ construction projects.
