Shyad Akhtar won the title of fastest male racer while Shanoy Saloman bagged the cap in the female section in the maiden Andaman Safaris Auto Cross 2017 organised by Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industry (YCCI), FMSCI on Sunday. Smt Roopal Patel, famous TV star was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mr Radhe Krishna Dutt, actor and Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission, A & N Islands, Mr Naresh Chander Lall, were the guests of honour. They gave away certificates and mementoes to the participants after the conclusion of the event.
Lauding the efforts of YCCI in organising Auto Cross 2017 here, Smt Roopal Patel  said that the event was a novel attempt to educate people on road safety. “Irresponsible driving on the main roads endangers the life of other users and persons holding the wheel should understand their responsibility. Life is precious and all motorists should obey traffic rules to prevent mishaps,” she said.
“After around 27 years, me, Roopal and Naresh Chander Lall, all students of National School of Drama, are sharing the stage together here because of YCCI,” said Mr RK Dutt. Rising cases of deaths in road accidents due to reckless driving has become a cause of concern for the entire country and strict adherence to traffic rules has become imperative to prevent loss of lives. Roads here are extremely narrow and motorists should refrain from driving at high speeds, urged Mr Dutt. Newly constituted Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to the welfare of youth in these islands, said YCCI Patron, Mr Naresh Chander Lall in his address. “The Chamber is striving to establish a Movie Studio in these islands and we solicit cooperation of all islanders in this regard,” he added.
