Stakeholders meet on child friendly villages

The UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights convened a meeting of stakeholders on the theme “Child Friendly Villages” last month at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sita Nagar Diglipur. Held in collaboration with DCPU North & Middle Andaman and Gram Panchayat, Sita Nagar, the meeting was chaired by Smt. Kiran Tigga, Chairperson, UTCPCR where Mr Shailendra Kumar Singh, Asst. Commissioner, Diglipur was the chief Guest.
The Gram Panchayat, Sita Nagar was declared as “Child Friendly Village” in the presence of stakeholders present. During her speech, Smt. Kiran Tigga, Chairperson gave a detailed account on Child Friendly Village, Child Marriage, Child Labour, POCSO & Malnutrition etc. Mr Shilendra Kumar Singh, AC Diglipur during his speech praised the Pradhan Ms Bul Bul Mistry for her efforts in successful convening of the stakeholders meet. Earlier, Ms. Bul Bul Mistry, Pradhan, Sita Nagar welcomed the dignitaries, stakeholders and the villagers in a traditional Bengali manner.
In her address, she wholehearted thanked the UTCPCR for adjudicating her Panchayat as Child Friendly Village and explained the parameters which her Panchayat fulfilled to be chosen as a child friendly village.  Smt. Jaya Biswas, CMO, Diglipur spoke on Child Health & Malnutrition. Mr Mahesh Yadav, SHO, Diglipur appreciated UTCPCR, DCPU & the Pradhan Gram Panchayat Sita Nagar and also gave a demonstration to the children on distinguishing between good touch & bad touch. Mr. Shyamal Mondal, Pramukh   Diglipur  during his speech appreciated the whole team for making the programme a grand success. The event also witnessed the sharing of views on child protection by the Principal Govt. Model S.S.School, District Child Protection Officer, Child Development Project Officer besides other police officers of PS, Diglipur. During their speech, Members UTCPCR Smti R.Geeta Raj and Mr Tarango Kumar Dhali spoke on protection of children. Teachers and about 500 students of  Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sitanagar besides the PRI members and villagers were present on the occasion. As part of the event, the UTCPCR team paid a visit to Anganwadi centres in Diglipur and advised the workers and officials on how to deal with children with regard to their safety and protection. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr P. Srinivas Rao, Zilla Parishad member, Diglipur constituency.
