State-level training on HSS held

The Andaman and Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized a state level training on HIV Sentinel Surveillance (HSS) in the auditorium of G.B Pant Hospital for Site Medical Officers, Counsellors, Lab. Technicians, Staff  Nurse and ANMs. The Director of Health Services, Dr. Shipra Paul inaugurated the training programme in presence of Dr. S P Burma, Medical Superintendent, G B Pant Hospital and Dr. Subrata Biswas, Project Coordinator, NICED, Kolkata. She emphasized the importance of HIV Surveillance to understand the dynamics of the HIV epidemic and monitor the trends among different population groups and geographical areas, thus, provides inputs to programme for strengthening prevention and control activities.
Earlier, Dr. R K Halder, Project Director, ANACS spoke on HIV Sentinel Surveillance.  A brief introduction and process of HIV Sentinel Surveillance was delivered by Dr. Tripti Banik, Focal Person Surveillance, ANACS.  The Training sessions were handled by Dr. Mishri Lal, Epidemiologist & SST Member, Dr Subrata Biswas, PC, NICED and Dr. Shahina Mustaqim, Microbiologist, SST Member.
