While the Electricity Department of the UT Administration is facing power deficit forcing consumers to bear long hour blackouts on a daily basis, criminal waste of electricity by street lights installed in different parts of the city has come to fore. According to residents of Dairyfarm, street lights at places like CPWD Colony, Lall Barrack, Ranchi Basti and PS Mill area are kept on till late in the morning wasting precious power.
“The street lights here can be seen switched on even hours after sunrise. While consumers are facing the brunt of frequent power outages these islands, the agency concerned which has installed street lights in the city particularly Dairyfarm appear to be least bothered to prevent such criminal waste of power. The situation needs to be dealt with strictly and officials responsible for such act should be taken to task,” said some residents of Ranchi Basti. (EOIC)
